This carpet was made in the city of Isfahan, which was the capital of Persia during the Safavid period and which shaped the art of carpet weaving. Isfahan carpets are regarded as the finest carpets. They are characterised by a high knot count, rich ornamentation and high-quality materials. Isfahan carpets feature many intricate details. The warp and weft are made of silk, and the pile is made of fine cork wool with silk outlines.
