Nain carpets
The fine Nain carpet
The high-quality Nain carpets are made by individual master weavers. Their price depends on the material used, the knotting density, but above all on the knotting technique and the artistic value. The value of the very good 6-La Nain carpets also depends on whether the arhadj (additional thin weft thread) was used or not. This is an important process for the durability of the carpet.
The production time of a medium-sized carpet knotted in this way is approximately 1.5 years. The commercial Nain 6-La, on the other hand, is made without the arhadj. It is made using a different knotting technique called djofti baft (loops instead of knots) and without the important thin weft thread. The production time for a medium-sized carpet in this case is only about 2 months. This type of commercial Nain is significantly cheaper and is sold commercially as Nain 6-La. It is a fine looking Nain with hidden defects. We recommend that you come and see the two varieties of Nain 6-La in our shop to compare them. You cannot see these subtle differences in a photo.
