fine Persian Sarough cork wool with Butteh design
This carpet was knotted in a small village, Sarough, located in the mountains of the Iranian interior north of Arak (formerly known as Sultanabad). During the late 19th and early 20th century, this small village was one of the most active areas for carpet weaving. The wool used is fine and lustrous. The carpets are durable and dense.
