Persian Isfahan cork wool knotted on silk
This carpet was made in Isfahan, the city that was the capital of Persia during the Safavid period and which characterised the art of carpet weaving. Isfahan carpets are considered to be the finest carpets. They are characterised by a high number of knots, rich ornamentation and high-quality materials. Isfahan carpets are characterised by many filigree details. Weft and warp are made of silk and the pile is made of fine cork wool with silk contours.
