Product information "Keschan fine cork wool"
These carpets are hand-knotted in Central Persia. These high-quality carpets, with a long tradition dating back to the Safavid period, usually feature a medallion design on a floral ground, though there are also variations. Keshan carpets are found in many European courts. The city of Keshan was an important transit point due to its location between Isfahan and Tehran, on the Silk Road, not far from the great Dasht-e-Kavir desert. This particularly fine example is knotted from cork wool, features a rare mirror pattern, and is signed by the master Ghollian.
